Leibster Blog Award

Hello my darlings,
Today I was working my way through the my news feed, reading and commenting on all news posts, when I noticed that the lovely Ivy from the blog Eviestearoom had awarded me the Liebster Blog award, to which I am very thankful for.

These are the questions that were given to me by Ivy:

No 1. What inspired you to dress vintage/vintage style?

I have dressed vintage for about two years now, with my style interest being mainly the 30's-50's eras, as I love the elegance that those women had. My inspiration for dressing like these eras, is most probably my love of history, with my passion being to learn about World War Two, which then lead on to learn about the topic of the women at home, their fashion and how they coped with the wartime struggles, e.g rationing. I then started to look to these women, as not only fashion inspiration, but for the way they "kept calm and carried on", how they put on a brave face and kept to business as usual. Also, they first thing that got me interested in vintage fashion from a young age, was my great grandmothers mink fur coat, which I used to try on when I was little and I loved it, as I remembered feeling so glamorous, just like I'd stepped straight out of a Hollywood movie.

No 2. Which historical person or figure would you like to have dinner with?

This is such a hard choice, but I would have to choose Vera Lynn because she was the British troop's wartime Sweetheart who got to travel round to all of the bases and sing to all of our boys. I would love to hear about the places she had visited, the stories she had to tell and how she lifted the boys' morale in the time of war. Vera Lynn is such a good singer, her songs are so well written and were a great morale booster on the homefront as well, with all of her songs relevant to the struggles, e.g. the blackout, as she made a song called 'When the lights come on again'.

No 3. Which famous person/historical figure would you go shopping with?

It is so hard to choose a historical figure whom I would love to shop with, as I love all of the 1940's singers/actresses styles, so instead I am going to choose a modern day artist/singer: Paloma Faith. I love Paloma's wardrobe, she is a lover of vintage too and wears it so well, as she truly finds the most amazing pieces. I would love to see the places where she finds all of her treasures.

No 4. If you wear red lipstick, what is your favourite kind?

I do love to wear a bit of red lippy, as I think it makes you look so much more elegant, and personally, red does suit my complexion very well, and thankfully most shades seem to suit. However, I do have a favourite and it is from chanel called rouge allure. I just love how creamy it is, and it never dries out your lips, while it can be blotted and worn as a stain which is what I like to do best. There are some amazing pinks, but nothing says vintage glamour like red lipstick.

No. 6 What era inspired and intrigues you the most?

Without a shadow of a doubt, it would definitely have to be the 1940's, it was as if that era just oozes glamour and elegance. I love the history of the 40's with the second world war and all, the history, the music the fashion, that is why I love it so much.

No. 7 If you could live life as a second person, what era would you be in?

Again, it would definitely be in the 1940's in London and I would be a girl of around 17 years old working in one of the munitions factories helping towards the war effort. This was the life of my great nan and she said they were the best days of her entire life.

No.8 What is the strangest vintage item you own?

I can't really say that I have any odd items that spring to mind, as I only really buy vintage clothes, but maybe the strangest is a WW2 evacuee suitcase, but i don't think its that strange hahaaha.

No.9 `What are some great qualities you have?

I am rather a modest person, so am finding this question the hardest so far, but as I have to say something, this would be it. I think that I am a good listener, who tries to give good advice and hopefully I am a good shopping partner too!

No.10 What is your favourite material?

I love silk. I don't think you can beat the way this material elegantly drapes the body, creating movement like having a mind of its own as well as looking so typically vintage and glam.

No.11 What is your favourite vintage name for a female?

I love the name Dolly so much.

No.12 What is your favourite vintage name for a male?

I'm not too sure how vintage this is, but Charlie because its the name of all my grandads and great grandads. I know its funny, they all had the same name!

I was honoured to be awarded this, and so I am going to give the leibster award to five of my own followers:
